Project Management Planet was recently invited onto Nova FM’s Fear & Greed podcast, hosted by the former editor-in-chief of the Sydney Morning Herald. Fear & Greed is Australia’s leading business podcasts, and it was a great opportunity to share our story and talk about the importance of project management in today’s economy.
The discussion began with a simple observation—behind every great achievement, from the Moon landing to the rollout of COVID vaccines, there was a project manager coordinating people and resources to deliver results. Despite its importance, project management as a profession hasn’t always had a clear pathway. That’s where Project Management Planet comes in.
The conversation explored the growing demand for project managers across Australia. With 1.2 million homes planned under the National Housing Accord, an 82% renewable energy target, and rapid growth across IT, infrastructure, and manufacturing, Australia is becoming a project-based economy. Every one of these initiatives requires skilled project professionals to succeed.
But despite it being a very common job, and a high earning one at that, the pathways into it as a career haven't always been so clear" (Fear & Greed)
Importantly, project management is a career open to people from many backgrounds. Whether you’re a tradesperson, an IT professional, or looking for a career change, certifications can provide an entry point into an industry where average salaries are between $135,000 and $155,000, and can grow well beyond $200,000 in senior roles—all without the need for a traditional university degree.
